1) Skype based interviews with grandparents and great-grandparents
B had a school project to research about WWII and the effects it had on people that lived during it. I mentioned to him that my grandparents, his great-grandparents, lived during it in Norway (a German occupied country). We discussed how we could do an interview with his 96 year old grandfather (oldefar) and grandmother (oldemor) who live in Norway and only speak Norwegian. We decided that we would Skype my father (B's bestefar) who would call his parents. B then did the interview by asking questions to my Dad who asked the grandparents (or in B's case his great-grandparents) in Norwegian over the phone. Confused yet? All in all I was pretty impressed. I love that we can live two time zones to the East of my parents, and 6 time zones to the West of my grandparents and get everyone together to do a phone-skype English-Norwegian-English interview on what it was like to live during WWII.
